Our fall work day is coming up on Saturday, October 25. By the time you read this, that date will have passed, but we hope that it will be a big event with many volunteers. As of this writing we have at least eighteen jobs on the schedule, and that includes “gardening" which can keep many volunteers busy for one morning all by itself. So you will get a final report of this effort next month.

I hope that you have not noticed a persistent and unpleasant odor that has been experienced for some time now in particular areas around our facility. It seems to only occur during warm to hot weather and is still a mystery as to its cause. Professionals have been consulted with no clear answer yet. We do have a possible solution which we will try, but, with the summer heat departing us for a while, we may have to be patient.

We experienced a significant water leak in our kitchen sink drain system, and Alan Wulzen came to the rescue. It is fixed, and should stay fixed for a good while. While he was attending to that job, he was informed by the Children's Center staff that a door in the toddler's room had a failed hinge. He fixed that too. Thank you again, Alan.

There has been a very large pile of green waste at the east end of our parking area. It took two pick up truck loads to properly dispose of it, but it is now gone.

The patio study committee met on September 23 to review and discuss a draft of a design layout which had been completed by committee member Ron Jacobs. Very rough cost estimates were also identified. Some revisions were made, and some new ideas were discussed. As a result, a second draft design will be prepared, and some research work will be conducted. This will all be presented to the committee at their next meeting on October 28. A status report will probably be given to the Church Council at its November meeting.
