On Our Way to Becoming a Reconciling in Christ Congregation

At the semi-annual meeting on June 15 th, our congregation voted unanimously to adopt the following Reconciling in Christ Affirmation of Welcome:

In response to God’s unconditional love, the people of Marin Lutheran Church invite and welcome all, worship and celebrate, teach and learn, serve and share. 

We affirm with the apostle Paul that in Christ, "There is no longer Jew or Greek, there is no longer slave or free, there is no longer male and female; for all of you are one in Christ Jesus."  (Galatians 3:28).  Christ calls us to reconciliation and wholeness and challenges us to be agents of healing within our society.  In that spirit, Marin Lutheran Church welcomes all people regardless of age, ethnicity, physical or mental ability, gender identity, or sexual orientation. All are welcome to fully participate in the life and ministry of this congregation.

There was good discussion surrounding this with many individuals eloquently sharing their opinions about becoming a Reconciling in Christ Congregation. Now that we have adopted the above Affirmation of Welcome, we forward it to Lutherans Concerned / North America (LC/NA). After they review it, our congregation will be added to the roster of Reconciling in Christ Congregations.

What changes within the doors of Marin Lutheran Church? We have always believed (and put into practice) that we are a welcoming congregation, accepting of all individuals. So nothing changes, except that we continuously strive to become better at “welcoming all.” We will be able to advertise that we are Reconciling in Christ, so that anyone looking for a church may come through our doors already confident that they will be welcomed.

Join us for a rainforest program of faith-filled fun! Rainforest Adventure invites kids to share the good news of Jesus’ love for us by being caretakers of all that God has given us.

At Rainforest Adventure you will:
• hear stories about Jesus
• make cool crafts
• sing fun songs
• play zany games
• eat super snacks
• make lots of new friends!

If you are between the ages of 3 years old and 5 th grade swing on in! We’ll have lots of fun sharing God’s love with everyone!
